Gail Rubin

Publicist

Ms. Rubin has a 20-year track record of conducting successful media relations campaigns on behalf of a wide range of DCI clients in the areas of entertainment, education, health care and economic development.

Ms. Rubin is currently supervising a national press effort on behalf of Remaking American Medicine™…Health Care for the 21st Century, a four-part PBS series underwritten by The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation®. In that capacity she is arranging for interviews with the series spokespersons and working with scores of journalists representing print and broadcast outlets. The campaign will culminate with the series premiere on Oct. 5, 2006.

From 1999 to April 2006 Ms. Rubin managed a comprehensive media relations effort on behalf of the All Kinds of Minds Institute®, a nonprofit organization co-chaired by Dr. Mel Levine and financier Charles Schwab. Her efforts resulted in hundreds of millions of impressions in print and broadcast outlets across the country. Ms. Rubin was considered an integral member of the AKOM marketing team.

Ms. Rubin also played an essential role in the extensive media relations campaign undertaken on behalf of Space Day, the educational initiative underwritten by Lockheed Martin. Her year-round efforts and those of other members of the DCI team resulted in more than a billion people around the world learning about Space Day. She provided support at the local, regional, national and international levels.

In the area of entertainment, Ms. Rubin has been involved in the national promotion of numerous Discovery Channel and PBS programs and series. For example, her efforts on behalf of the independent production company Capitol Concerts helped generate more than 500 million impressions for the two highest-rated PBS special entertainment broadcasts -- the National Memorial Day Concert and A Capitol Fourth.

PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE

Prior to joining the agency in 1985, Ms. Rubin was a television producer with C-SPAN, the Cable Satellite Public Affairs Network, for five years. She was vice president of Rubin-Stracina Public Relations and director of Communications for American Laser Games, both located in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

EDUCATION

Ms. Rubin has a bachelor’s degree in Communications from the University of Maryland, College Park and an associate’s degree in Radio, Television and Film from Montgomery College in Rockville, Maryland.
